Innovation at Bupa Cromwell Hospital

PLACE Inspection

In 2018, Bupa Cromwell Hospital went through a Patient Led Assessment of the Care Environment (PLACE) Inspection. We achieved 100% in cleanliness, maintenance, food and hydration, and patient privacy and wellbeing.

Gold Standard Framework

We are the first private hospital to adopt the Gold Standard Framework (GSF), which is used to improve early identification, assessment and the planning of well-coordinated care for people in their final stage of life.

Children and Young People's Department

In the autumn/winter of 2018 we opened our newly refurbished Children and Young People's Department, which includes its own dedicated entrance for our youngest patients.

In 2019 we will open our new 10-bedded Adult Intensive Care Unit which will be complete with individual rooms with natural daylight, for optimum patient privacy, dignity and comfort.

Safeguarding Adults

In December 2017 we adopted the NHS England 'Safeguarding Adults' reference guide, protecting any adult in our care from harm.

Map for All

We are the first private hospital to provide a 'Map for All', enhancing the experience of people with impaired vision. This tool has been created with a mixture of visual contrasts, textures, raised large print and Braille lettering, to make the patients' visit to the hospital more engaging, informative and stimulating.

We are proud of SafeCare, a tool that was introduced in March 2018 and means that we can provide consistent staff to patient ratios. By doing this we improve patient outcomes and safety by using a well-known, respected model to make decisions on staffing ratios.

Mentoring programme (in partnership with Kingston University)

Our mentorship programme is designed to enable nursing professionals to develop their clinical skills, whilst the scope of our business encourages progression. We also equip our nurses with the skills and opportunities they need to become experts in dementia care, if that is something they're interested in.
